About Me.......
Hello my name is Cindy Michaels, I am a teacher at Edison Elementary in Lehigh Acres, Florida. I teach the Third grade ESE Social Communications class.
I am the mother to two amazing little boys. Evan is 8 and Chris is 6. They teach me each and every day. They are my inspiration for becoming a teacher. You see, they both have Autism. We stay pretty busy around the house with these two angels! We do love to go to the beach, bbq, movie nights, family nights and spending our free time with great family and friends. If by chance I have any spare time (not too often) I love to read. I think that reading helps build the imagination and inspire us to do great things!
My teaching philosophy is student centered teaching. Otherwise known as "constructivist", "progressive" or " project or problem-based" teaching. I believe giving the students experiences in the classroom. Many children learn more with hands on training (in my opinion) than just through lecture in a teacher centered teaching environment. I provide work, ask questions, and engage in conversations with the students. Thus they learn key information and essential skills through explorations and discovery. John Dewey a theorist also believed that learning by doing was the best way to learn.
